Classical Vocal
In India, Classical Vocal (Shashtriya Sangeet) is divided into Hindustani Classical Music and Carnatic Classical Music. While the former is generally found in the northern subcontinent, the latter is prevalent in South India. While both types of Classical Music originated in Vedic chants, the former is heavily influenced by Persian and Islamic traditions while the latter has more emphasis on vocal music or singing.
